"An incredible journey."

Actor Rob Wiethoff, best known for portraying John Marston in Rockstar Games' Red Dead Redemption and Red Dead Redemption II, has shared his thoughts on Gone Outlaw.

"Gone Outlaw is an incredible journey that had me captivated from the very beginning," he says.

"The descriptive writing stimulated all of my senses, and I really enjoyed being transported into this world from the comfort and safety of my own home. Thank you @madisonkthames for providing me the opportunity to experience this tragic and beautiful story."

To have my debut novel not only read but enjoyed by someone whose performances have had such a huge impact on me is an incredible honor. I remember watching my older brother play the first Red Dead thirteen years ago. I was amazed by the ground-breaking graphics, and when I saw him riding through the desert on his real-looking horse, I wanted to play. But my brother said, "Not yet." I wasn't old enough.

Fast forward to 2018. Excitedly, my brother tells me that Red Dead Redemption II is coming out soon and gets me to watch the trailer. That looks like it could be fun, I thought, and I decided to give it a try. I had no idea what I was in for. I've always enjoyed a good Western, but Red Dead II made me fall in love with the genre. From the moment I heard the "Mountain Hymn" for the first time, I was completely invested and along for the ride. And what a ride it was! A game I almost didn't play became my favorite game of all time, and it inspired me to start writing Westerns. It's not an exaggeration to say that Red Dead Redemption II changed my life.

I grew up writing stories with my friends, always Fantasy and Sci-Fi, always featuring a central romance as the beating heart of the story. I dreamed of being a Fantasy author someday. If you'd told me that my first novel would be a historical Western, I would've looked at you like you were crazy.

The takeaway? Make plans. Set goals. But always keep an open mind. Life is full of twists and turns, so saddle up and enjoy the ride! You never know where the journey might take you.
